ONLINE Voice Lessons

I love teaching students at all levels, whether you're a beginner or on Broadway. I emphasize healthy, safe and sustainable singing for all of my students. My four tent-poles are technique, acting, repertoire selection and audition preparation. I primarily teach using material from all eras of Musical Theater as well as standards from the American Songbook. I also use art songs occasionally to help students develop their skills.

ONLINE Voice Coaching

Besides teaching, I also enjoy working as a vocal coach. What's the difference between a teacher and a coach? That's a great question! A coach is someone who helps you learn specific material (a role or a song). A coach does not focus on technique or vocal problem-solving. You may routinely work with more than one coach at a time, but typically you work with only one teacher at a time. You don't take weekly lessons with a coach. Coaching is project-based.

Let's Discover YOUR voice together

As we improve your breath support, increase your range, develop your vocal strength and power, and explore the material that fits you best, we will discover your unique, authentic singing voice. Your singing voice should match the tone and color of your speaking voice, and the different registers of your voice should all sound like the same person.  Rather than teaching you how to sing like your favorite performer, I am here to help you learn how to sing as the best possible version of yourself. And to help you learn how to do it safely and reliably.

Your First Lesson

At your first lesson, I will ask you some questions about your experience and future goals. Then, I will take you through some vocalises. If you have a song prepared, I will have you sing it for me. Don't worry if you don't have a song ready to go. That's not a pre-requisite.

Hearing you sing will allow me to assess where you are vocally right now. Most people have healthy voices in various stages of development, but if I hear something that concerns me (hoarseness, raspiness, breathiness, coughing, etc) I may recommend that you see an Ear, Nose, Throat doctor to have an exam before we begin working together.
